4. Will the ID-12 fit in a particular radio?  
It is very tiny. It measures
.62 x .72 x .12 with the programming tab removed. We don’t know of any radio it will not fit into, but we haven’t tried it in all radios. If you call us, we would be happy to send you a dead unit to do a fit test.
 
   
   
5. Does the ID-12 plug into the radio?  
No. It needs to be soldered in; it comes with 14" flying leads.

6. Where does the ID-12 hook up to the radio?  
It hooks up to the mike audio high, the PTT line, power and ground.

Yes, you need a technician to install the ID-12.

8. How long does the ID-12 take to install?
It usually takes about 30 or 40 minutes per radio once the first radio has been done.

 
   
   
9. How do I program the ID-12? 
We can program it for you (for a small fee), or you can purchase a programmer, Model PRO-12, which includes the hardware, Windows-based software, and a cable which hooks up to your PC.

10. Can the ID-12 be reprogrammed? 
Yes, any number of times.
 
   
   
11. If the ID-12 has been installed in the radio, do I need to unsolder the wires to reprogram it? 
No, it can be programmed while it is hooked up to the radio as long as you have left the ID-12 wires long enough for the ID-12 to be plugged in to the PRO-12 module connector.

Yes. It can be programmed to do one or the other or both.

No, the ID-12 can be programmed to send only numeric (up to 4 digits). It cannot be programmed to send alpha.

Yes. If you give it a momentary closure to ground with a push-button or switch,
it will key the radio and send an Emergency ID eight times (randomly spaced), and then reset.
